What you get without paying
No tier above this one.
Nothing in the release is reserved for a paid or hosted plan. Local and shared modes use the same codebase and licence.
No Sophotech account.
Local mode needs no sign-up, activation or licence key. A shared deployment signs people in through the identity provider you already run.
No cluster telemetry.
Your cluster data stays in the environment running Spinoza. Local mode makes one update check per run unless you switch it off; cluster mode makes none.
No seat count.
Install local mode on as many machines and point it at as many clusters as you like. Nothing counts them.
The licence
The source is published.
The code that holds your cluster credentials is on GitHub, and the releases carry build provenance and an SBOM so you can check that what you downloaded is what was built.
Use it for anything except reselling it.
Internal use, consulting work for a client, research and teaching are all permitted. The licence withholds one thing: offering Spinoza itself as a competing commercial product or service.
It becomes Apache 2.0 with age.
Each release converts to the Apache 2.0 licence two years after it ships.
